Hi, everyone!
I’ve got something different today. Yesterday, news broke that Steph Curry is returning to Davidson College in a new role. Since I live in Charlotte — just 20 minutes from Davidson’s campus — my managing editor asked me to cover the story.
So, my first-ever college hoops and NBA piece for Yardbarker dives into this historic opportunity for Davidson. It’s more than just nostalgia and name recognition — I explored what this means for a small liberal arts school and others like it.

Thank you!

Interesting piece, Colin. Since you live in the area, I'm curious how much attention is paid to a school like Davidson in such a densely populated CBB area, in comparison to Duke, UNC, NC St., Wake, etc. Very different from where I live, which is dominated by KU hoops, with fellow power five programs K-State and Mizzou in the periphery. UMKC gets no traction, but they obviously don't have the greatest shooter in NBA history as an alum, or Davidson's track record, with or without Curry.
Fun fact, Curry's last NCAa tournament game was a loss to KU, who went on to win the 2008 title. I was a nervous wreck that entire game. Curry was very good and the Jayhawks could never put them away. It came down to the last shot with the Hawks nursing a 2 point lead, and their defense forced someone else to take the last shot. Thankfully, it was short, and my whole state breathed a sigh of relief.
