Hi, everyone!
Last night, I attended and covered my first Calder Cup Finals game. I missed Friday’s Game 1 double OT game because we were still in OIB. But I was excited to be back and at Sunday’s matchup.
This game delivered. From the start, I could feel the energy being different from any other Checkers game I’ve been to, as a fan or media member. I got goosebumps a couple of times because the record crowd was so loud. There was a lot of physicality, exciting plays, and yes, more OT to be played!
As you can see from the title of the column, Charlotte came out on top. How did they do it? Please read my latest for The Charlotte Observer.
If you aren’t into hockey, or don’t feel like reading today, I implore you to at least watch this reel of the game-winning goal in OT. It’s hockey playoff magic.
